General

What is MyCGMLog?

MyCGMLog is a simple companion app that helps you track your CGM sensor sessions, record issues, and stay organised when dealing with sensor failures or replacements. It's designed for anyone using a continuous glucose monitor, whether you're living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, or using a CGM for health and fitness insights.

Who is MyCGMLog for?

MyCGMLog is for anyone using a continuous glucose monitor, including Dexcom G6 or G7 users, parents managing CGMs for their children, adults living with diabetes, and people using CGMs for general health and wellness.

Is MyCGMLog free to use?

Yes, MyCGMLog is completely free to use. There are no costs associated with downloading the app, and it does not offer any in-app purchases.

Is MyCGMLog medical advice?

No. MyCGMLog does not provide medical advice and does not interpret CGM readings. It simply helps you track your CGM sessions, organise notes, and keep the information you need when contacting your CGM provider.

Features

Does MyCGMLog work with Dexcom G6/G7 and other CGMs?

Yes. The current transmitter and session flows are designed around Dexcom G6 and G7. Users of other systems — such as FreeStyle Libre, Medtronic Guardian, and Eversense — may still find benefits in logging sensor sessions, dates, lot/serial numbers, and notes.

Does MyCGMLog connect to Dexcom or other CGMs?

No. MyCGMLog does not connect to physical medical devices or integrate with companion/medical apps. It's a standalone journal for tracking sessions, details, and issue notes.

What can I track in MyCGMLog?

You can track CGM sensor sessions, transmitter sessions, and detailed issue logs (e.g. no readings, sensor stopped working, inaccurate readings, sensor fell off, bleeding after insertion, signal loss, transmitter battery). You can also add notes about failures and any details needed for replacements. Each session includes dates, serial & lot numbers, and optional notes.

Does MyCGMLog track my glucose readings?

No. MyCGMLog does not access or record glucose readings. It focuses on session history and issue tracking, not glucose data.

Can I journal my CGM issues and experiences?

Yes. MyCGMLog includes a note system that lets you record issues, observations, or anything else you want to remember during your CGM sessions.

Dexcom & Sensor Issues

How does MyCGMLog help with failed Dexcom sensors?

When a Dexcom sensor fails early or behaves incorrectly, Dexcom usually asks for details like the sensor serial number, lot number, start date, and issue description. MyCGMLog helps you keep all of these details organised so contacting Dexcom is much less stressful.

What information do I need when contacting Dexcom for a replacement?

Dexcom commonly requests the sensor serial number, lot number, the start date and time of the session, and the issue that occurred. MyCGMLog helps you store all of this in one place so you don't need to search for it later.

How do other people track sensor or transmitter issues?

People often use ad-hoc methods: snapping photos of the sensor or transmitter serial/LN when inserting, keeping each sensor box and writing the start date/time on it with a pen, or typing notes into a generic app (Apple Notes, Google Keep, OneNote) or a spreadsheet. These work, but photos can get buried, handwriting can fade or be tossed with the packaging, and free-form notes rarely capture consistent fields (serial, lot, start time, issue type). MyCGMLog gives you a structured, searchable log with tagged issue types (e.g. no readings, sensor stopped working, inaccurate readings, fell off, bleeding after insertion, signal loss, transmitter battery) so you have a clean history ready when support asks for details.

Can MyCGMLog submit a replacement request to Dexcom?

Not directly. MyCGMLog helps you organise the information you need, but any replacement request must be submitted through Dexcom's official support channels.

Privacy & Data

Does MyCGMLog store my personal data?

MyCGMLog stores only the information you enter, such as your session dates and notes. It does not collect glucose readings, health metrics, or any data from Dexcom or your health apps directly.

Is my data synced to the cloud?

Currently, MyCGMLog stores your data locally on your device. No account is required, and no data is uploaded to external servers unless you choose to back it up through your device's own backup system.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete all data stored by uninstalling the app. Warning: once deleted there is no way to recover your notes.
